I'd take Luongo for a 2nd round pick, beyond that let Vancouver figure out what to do with his contract. It's still fifty million worth of cap space over ten years, even though Luongo is still good right now his best production has probably already occurred, we don't need to give up anything to take that kind of obligation on

I still think neither Gillis or Burke wants to be the one who gets burned on this kind of deal, therefore it won't happen. Given the history between them and the non-rivalry rivarly between the two cities, neither guy wants to be the one who eats poop on the bad end of this deal for ten years.

You act as if you own the Team, Every team in Toronto is owned by Telephone companies they care nothing for Toronto and all for profits where as vancouver canucks are owned by the Aquillini's born and raised in Vancouver.

In his interview, Lu came out and said his career is almost over but his contract isn't. Yes he can be a legit #1 in TO right now which is what we need, but the smarter move (long term) may be to pick up a Thomas or Backstrom out of Bos or Min and have them for a year, see what kinda shape Reim and Scrivens are in and go from there. More cost effective and smarter spending long term.
